!Her obituary in the "Centre Daily Times" of Tue. 14 July 1998 read: "LaVetta G. Tice, 72, of Julian died Sunday, July 12, 1998 at Centre Community Hospital. She was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Spring Township, a daughter of the late Samuel Uriah and Alma Frederika Horner Burris. On May 25, 1945, she married Merrill L. Tice, who survives at home. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Unionville United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Unionville Grange 325 and founder of Rattlesnake Pike Friends and Family Flower Fund. She enjoyed helping friends and neighbors. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Blanchard W. of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Raymond D. and Mark L., both of Julian; two sisters, Flossy Lose of Centre Hall and Marie Ammerman of Bellefonte; two brothers, Lawrence of State College and Evan of Bellefonte; six grandchildren and a great-grandson. A son, Dean Tice, preceded her in death. Arrangements are under the direction of Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home."
An addition in the "CDT" for the following day, Wed. 15 July 1998, read: "Funeral services for LaVetta G. Tice of Julian who died July 12, 1998 will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg, with the Revs. Thomas M. Osif and David A. Walker officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Her survivors include a sister, Flossie Luse of Centre Hall and a brother, Lawrence Burris of Bellefonte."
